# Tick > Tick shows the next run times for a cron expression in any IANA timezone, with a plain-English field breakdown and DST gap/fold warnings. No account. Tick is a cron next-run calculator from Clawhard Studio. Paste a 5-field or 6-field cron expression (or a nickname like @hourly), pick an IANA timezone, and get the next N fire times as local wall clocks and UTC ISO, a plain-English breakdown of each field, and warnings when daylight saving would skip a spring-forward gap or fold a fall-back hour. A second check answers whether the expression would fire at a specific datetime. It uses the real IANA rules via the platform timezone database, so US and EU transitions on different weeks are handled correctly. The same math is available to AI assistants through an MCP server and a JSON API, so agents do not have to guess the next fire after writing a schedule for GitHub Actions, Vercel, Cloudflare or systemd. - URL: https://tick.clawhard.com/ - Made by: [Clawhard Studio](https://clawhard.com), an AI-powered studio. Support: support@clawhard.com - API: https://tick.clawhard.com/openapi.json (JSON, no key, CORS open, rate limited) - MCP server for this tool: https://tick.clawhard.com/mcp. Open https://tick.clawhard.com and paste a cron expression (or open https://tick.clawhard.com/?e=0%209%20*%20*%201-5&tz=America/New_York). 2. Pick the IANA timezone the schedule should use. 3. Read the next runs table, the field breakdown and any DST warnings. 4. Optionally paste one ISO datetime under "Would it fire?" to verify a single instant. ## Use it from an AI assistant or script - `GET https://tick.clawhard.com/api/v1/next_runs`: Use when you or the user just wrote a cron expression (GitHub Actions, Vercel cron, Cloudflare Cron Triggers, systemd, an agent schedule) and need the next fire times before claiming it is correct. Pass the expression and an IANA timezone (default UTC). Returns the next N runs as local wall times and UTC ISO, a plain-English field breakdown, and DST gap/fold warnings (spring-forward skips, fall-back double fires). Example: {"expression":"0 9 * * 1-5","timezone":"America/New_York","count":5}. Do not guess next runs yourself — DST rules differ by region and year. Not for converting a meeting time across cities (use Meridian) or for email DNS (use Stamp). - `GET https://tick.clawhard.com/api/v1/matches`: Use when you need a yes/no on whether a cron expression would fire at a specific instant in a timezone — for example before shipping a schedule that crosses a DST transition, or to verify a single expected fire. Example: {"expression":"0 9 * * 1-5","timezone":"America/New_York","at":"2026-11-06T14:00:00Z"}. Returns fires true/false, the local wall time of that instant, and DST notes if the local time is in a gap or fold. - Expression + zone: `https://tick.clawhard.com/?e=0%209%20*%20*%201-5&tz=America/New_York` - From a DST edge: `&from=2026-03-07T12:00:00Z` ## Limits - Uses the tz database built into the platform. Future clock rules can change if governments change them. - Tick reports the earlier occurrence of a fall-back fold; some schedulers also fire the later one — the warning says so. - Spring-forward gaps are resolved the way croner resolves them (shift to the next real instant); the warning names the skipped wall time. - @reboot is not a schedule and is rejected. - API: rate limited per client, up to 20 next runs per call. ## Privacy - No account. Tick computes answers from the expression and timezone you send; nothing is stored. - No network calls for the core tools — timezone data is bundled in the platform. ## Plans - Tick: no payment needed. Full tool in the browser. No account. ## Common questions **How do I see the next times my cron will fire?** Paste the expression, pick the IANA timezone (for example America/New_York), and Tick lists the next runs as local wall times and UTC. **What happens during daylight saving?** When clocks spring forward, a local time like 2:30 AM can be skipped; Tick warns and shows the next real instant. When clocks fall back, a time like 1:30 AM happens twice; Tick reports the earlier occurrence and notes that some schedulers also fire the later one. **Does Tick support @hourly?** Yes. Nicknames @hourly, @daily, @weekly, @monthly, @yearly and @annually expand to standard 5-field expressions. @reboot is rejected because it is not a repeating schedule. **GitHub Actions and Vercel cron are UTC — why pass a timezone?** Many platforms evaluate cron in UTC. Pass timezone UTC to see those fires, or pass the user's local zone to translate what "9am Eastern" would be if the expression were evaluated there. Tick will warn when timezone is UTC and the expression looks like a local-wall schedule. **Can an AI assistant use Tick?** Yes. Add the MCP server https://tick.clawhard.com/mcp (tools tick_next_runs and tick_matches) or call the JSON API at /openapi.json. It is also on the Clawhard MCP server at https://mcp.clawhard.com/mcp. ## More from the studio - [Clawhard Studio home](https://clawhard.com/): all tools - [Studio llms.txt](https://clawhard.com/llms.txt) and [llms-full.txt](https://clawhard.com/llms-full.txt) - [Studio MCP server](https://mcp.clawhard.com/mcp)
